Restaurant Chain Trends 2012 - Bankrupt Restaurants

Bankrupt Chain Restaurants - a 2012 Chain Restaurant Trend?

Steve Johnson, Grocerant Guru wrote Restaurant Industry Trends - Zombie restaurants are ignoring history like Kodak and sees lessons learned from Kodak's failures and similarly poor strategy and leadership in the restaurant industry.

I call these failing chain restaurants,  zombie restaurants. Zombie restaurants are chain restaurants with bad strategies and hire consultants turnaround experts that focus on survival and pay little to no attention to repositioning the brand. The Friendly's restaurant chain is but one of many recent examples during 2011.

The connection with Kodak and failing restaurants is this - things go wrong, companies don't change... and they are gone. Yet Starbucks and McDonalds have the "guts" to reinvent themselves with successful new product launches like McRib and Starbucks Petites.

In Restaurant Industry Trends - Zombie chain restaurants are ignoring history like Kodak see why 'We Can't... We Won't... We Don't'" is recipe for failure in food and beverage brands.
